In an exclusive survey in which 53 people took part from the Poole & Bournemouth area it showed that 35% of residents do not support Black Friday in the UK.
The survey also shows that 71% of residents are in support of Cyber Monday.
This stat correlates with a report from The British Retail Consortium, which show online sales (excluding food items), were up by 11.8% from the previous year.
Here are some of the contrasting thoughts of Poole & Bournemouth residents on the introduction of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to the area.
Yakup Ozdemir: “Yes, Black Friday is a good thing because as a customer I want to get the best deals. Why would I not be interested in reduced prices. People complaining are the kind of people who do not have anything better to complain about.”
Adam Stock: “It is unnecessary, possibly unwanted by people from the UK, this is obvious with stores like Asda pulling out of this year’s event, after last years’ catastrophe, Asda were the ones who started it in the UK and they pulled out, that speaks for it self.”
Ian George: “I anticipated that there would be a crush but it was a poor turnout this year, I think shop owners with the recession use every gimmick they can to make a bit of money, but its not for me.”
Edward Bosnakler: “I prefer Cyber Monday to Black Friday, Black Friday just feels out of place in the UK and I am really not sure why it is here. Cyber Monday is good because we don’t have a dedicated online bargain day, but with Black Friday I just feel like it’s a dumbed down of the January sales.”
