A 25-year-old Wilts & Dorset bus has been seen cruising on the streets of San Francisco.

Pictures of the double-decker have been circulating on social media, as people are surprised to see the English bus with signs saying it is going to Christchurch, trying to fight through the city traffic.

Chief executive of the bus operator Andrew Wickham said the bus was one of a fleet of double-deckers, which had reached the end of their lives in the UK and were bought by the British Bus Company in San Diego, about18 months ago. The vehicles then made the 3000 mile journey to the USA, first being shipped to Florida and then driven across the States.

The bus in San Francisco is operated by San Francisco Deluxe Tours, which have two in San Diego that are also still operating in Wilts & Dorset Livery, and are maintained regularly.

Former BBC Radio Five Live presenter Caroline Feraday, posted a picture of the scene on Twitter:

Stay tuned for updates.
