A Letter From Texas

Branching out of the UK, I wanted to see what prison is like in America. Murderer, Leonard Perez wrote to me with an opinion from one of the biggest prisons in Texas.

Leonard Perez is a 28 year old Hispanic American, serving a 10 year murder sentence in William P. Clements Unit, Amarillo, Texas.

I signed up to be Leonard’s pen pal to share his experiences with female prison officers from the inside of an American prison.

“Women will have it easier in a way that male inmates, being locked up, are trying to win the female over, as a girlfriend, as a friend or for whatever reason the inmate desires.”
